Fundamental Research

Fundamental research aims to generate evidence base on the basic concepts of Ayurveda in contemporary terms by the scientific innovations and prospects for the replacement of suppositions with the scientific reasoning and facts. It embodies the integration of the fields of conventional physiology, pathology, pharmacology and pharmaceuticals etc to Ayurveda to explore and revalidate the underlying concepts, principles and practices of Ayurveda in current perspectives using recent tools.  

Priority areas of Fundamental Research:

The priority areas of the fundamental research are as below:

  1. Standardization of Knowledge interface based on Ayurveda Principles through Development of Questionnaires / Tools
  2. Scientific evaluation & Validation of fundamental Principles of Ayurveda
  3. Generation of Evidence base for Applicability of Ayurveda Principles through inter-disciplinary Translational Research encompassing latest technologies
  4. Upgrading Existing Knowledge in light of contemporary science
  5. Development of new tools by using latest medical instrumentation techniques to explain and explore the underlying principles
  6. Development of appropriate models for studying Ayurveda interventions, Development of Healthcare Technologies, Creation of Databases using Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning etc.
  7. Capacity building of Ayurveda stakeholders through trainings/ workshops on CCRAS standardized tools.

The Council has undertaken research projects as Intra Mural Research Projects at its institutes and Collaborative projects in collaboration with esteemed institutions like International centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, New Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, Transdisciplinary University, Bengaluru, IIT Delhi, All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, Jamnagar, National Institute of Ayurveda Jaipur etc.

Capacity Building

Training on CCRAS Standardized tools is essential for capacity building of Researchers, Clinicians and Academicians of Ayurveda nationwide. CCRAS has organized Training on Standardized Prakriti Assessment Scale and Swasthya Assessment Scale. CCRAS has also provided hands on training on AYUR Prakriti Web Portal and Swasthya Assessment Portal. The country has about 400 Ayurvedic Colleges and 3.99 lakh Ayurveda practitioners. CCRAS has coordinated with Ayurveda Colleges across the country and has organized more than 20 training programmes till date where in approximately 600 faculty members and stakeholders from more than 150 Ayurveda Colleges have been trained on Standardized Prakriti Assessment Scale and AYUR Prakriti Web Portal. All the Council’s technical officers of Ayurveda (approx. 200) from across the country have been trained and are using the portals for various research projects.
