Information Technology Initiatives


Apart from routine activities related to Information Technology matters, the Information Technology Section has been actively involved in the coordination and organization of various activities of this Council. In addition to providing incessant technical support to the scientists of the Council, the section has organized online training with the objective to up skill the scientists of the Council with new technology initiatives that would enhance their research effectively.

The IT section has successfully implemented eOffice at CCRAS with the assistance of A Technical Manager for, hired through NICSI. The eOffice Account License and the required VM servers have been purchased, vetted and the servers are functioning successfully. The employees of the headquarter office are working successfully on eOffice and at peripheral institutes deployment of eOffice has been initiated. Along with this to utilize the full potential of eOffice application, IT Section has successfully created the Scanning Hubs in the Council that every single document should be scanned and communicated through eOffice only. IT section also initiated the process of digitization of legacy files.

A tripartite MoU with PGCIL & NKN has been signed for secure reliable Network at Peripheral Institute &provision of internet link at peripheral institutes is initiated. Implementation of Structured Local Area Network at CCRAS is in its penultimate phase. SPARROW (Smart Performance Appraisal Report Recording Online Window) application implementation is in its final phase and vetting of APAR forms for SPARROW application is under process. Apart from that IT Section has successfully upgraded the Server room with latest technologies and UPS. Also, an initiative for upgrading & revamping of Council’s Website has commenced. Additionally, the following activities are also carried out by the section:

  • Updating information on the website of CCRAS.
  • Uploading information/data on Council’s website (Advertisements, Tenders, Notices, Results, Quiz, Brochures, Blogs, etc.).
  • Management of all web cloud, Virtual Machine (VM), and Virtual Private Network (VPN) related matters in regard to the website of CCRAS.
  • Providing Network Support (as nodal NKN point) to the Councils within the CCCB Complex.
  • Providing assistance regarding website domain cloud related to various portals of CCRAS.
  • Maintenance of File Tracking System (FTS) application for transparent workflow at CCRAS.
  • Coordination with National Informatics Centre (NIC) for relevant matters on behalf of the Council.
  • Maintenance of Internal Local Area Network (LAN) facility at CCRAS.
  • Handling of communications related to miscellaneous processes including recruitment etc.
  • Supervising the AMC of IT equipment of the Council.
  • Managing safety of IT equipment through antivirus deployment. Disbursement of information/notice to peripheral institutes as and when necessary and sharing relevant information with all concerned officer and officials of the Council through circulars, guidelines and letters time to time
  • Providing necessary IT support to various committees e.g. PIMS.
  • High Quality Scanning of documents for various sections and Scientists of this Council.
  • Technical support to peripheral institutes for NIC related matters including registration in GeM, creation of NIC/Gov email IDs and uploading of data in CPP Portal etc.
  • Collection of survey reports (Pictorial form) through digital platforms and maintaining at CCRAS HQ.
  • Creation and maintenance of CCRAS directory including contact related information of all Technical officials of CCRAS and updating of the same.
  • Developing trainings and workshops aiming to enhance IT skills of Council employees from time to time.
  • Coordination and management of various meetings and webinars of CCRAS, enabling Video Conferencing (VC) Meetings and Webinars. Apart from other virtual activities.
